Donate to Preserve a History of Education...

Your Support Makes Our Educational Mission Possible

Thank you!

Built in 1713, the Powder Magazine Museum is our state's oldest public building and it is the only remaining structure from Charleston's walled city defenses. It was also one of Charleston's first historic sites to be preserved and shared with the public.

Each year, this colonial site connects thousands of people with the stories of those who shaped our state and nation. We do this through tours, lectures, teacher education, K-12 field trips and all sorts of special events!
